Pre & Post Treatment Protocol
BBL
Pre-Care:
-
It is essential to be out of the sun 2 weeks prior to having the treatment.

Do not use any photo- sensitizing medications.
-
You cannot be on accutane for 6-12 months.
-
Cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding.
-
Cannot have the treatment if you have a history of keloid scarring.
-
Cannot have a history of cancer.
-
Do not use self tanning products.
-
Cannot use any anticoagulant medications
-
Discontinue use of tretinoin type products ( Renova, Retin-A , Hydroquinone) 2-3 days prior to treatment.
-
If you have a history of cold sores, begin treatment with Valtrex or similar no longer then the day prior to treatment.

Notify us if develop a cold sore, open lesion or any sickness before your treatment.
-
Must only be performed 2 weeks post Dermal filler or Botox, if applicable.
Post-Care:
-
Although rare scarring can occur following the treatment.
-
Hives may also occur, irritation will subside in a few hours.
-
Permanent pigmentary changes may occur.
-
Bruising may also occur, these bruises may last 1-2 weeks.
-
Swelling around the eyes and bridge of nose may occur immediately after a BBL treatment and may remain for 24-48 hours.
-
Do not sunbathe, use tanning beds , or use self tanning lotions for at least 2 weeks following your treatment, if you are in the sun wear SPF 30 minimum.

Avoid swimming, hot tubs, & saunas several days following your treatment.
-
Until sensitivity has completely subsided, avoid using lotions, soaps, exfoliant creams or any product that has active ingredients.

Activities that cause excessive perspiration.
-
A cold compress or an ice pack can be used to provide comfort if the treated area is especially warm.
-
Skin may appear red and swollen and have a mild sunburn sensation. This is a normal reaction. It can happen a few hours after the treatment.
-
Freckles and sunspots may turn slightly darker initially and then flake off within 7-14 days. This is a desired and normal reaction.
-
There may be erythema (redness) and slight swelling around the treated vessels. Often they are lighter in appearance and look somewhat smudgy or less defined.

Make up can be applied immediately after the treatment as long as skin integrity has not been compromised.
-
In the unusual case of crusting of the skin in the treated area, apply an antibiotic ointment twice a day to the affected area. DO NOT PICK at these areas , as this may result in infection or scarring.

If the skin is broken or a blister appears, apply an antibiotic ointment and contact the office immediately. Keep the affected area moist and avoid direct sunlight.

Subsequent treatments are recommended 2-4 weeks apart and a minimum of 3 treatments.
