Being oh so inspired by the Met Gala, I had to share a fashion forward, CAMP- worthy trend:
LASHES!
It is important to note that this trend is outrageous and over the top but we all love a good thick and long set of lashes. In the last few years the lash industry has been booming with lash extensions, lifts, tints and products that promise gravity defying length. As a lash lover and trend guinea pig I have been ADDICTED to Latisse since I began working at Skin Worthy. I guess you could say I am a grow-er and not a show-er.
WHAT IS LATISSE:
Latisse is a prescription lash growth serum that is indicated in to grow natural eyelashes longer, thicker and darker. Full disclosure, the active ingredient in Latisse (bimatoprost) is also used in prescription eye drops to treat glaucoma. Eyelash growth was an unexpected side effect of these eye drops which led to the creation and marketing of Latisse.
HOW DOES IT WORK:
With regular and consistent nightly applications to the upper eyelid lash line, Latisse will stimulate longer, thicker, darker lashes. The key to long Latisse lashes is consistency and patience. When you use Latisse for a period of a few weeks you will slowly notice a difference. These results will continue to improve with product use over an extended period of time. Once you reach your desired lash length at around the 16th week of use you can taper down to 3-4 applications a week to maintain results.
EXPECTED RESULTS:
I often get asked where I get my lash extensions done- girl these are REAL! No extensions needed. However, if you are a fan of lash extensions you may want to try this product. Latisse works well with lash extensions as it gives your extension artist a dense, long canvas to work with. Long lashes make you feel pretty and whimsical, and they make getting ready in the morning a breeze. My weapons of choice tend to be a lash curler and a tube of mascara. A great way to track your own lash growth is to take progress photos.
One of our lovely patients took progress photos throughout her Latisse journey and we are loving the dramatic changes. Her lashes are not only longer but have also gotten thicker over time, since these photos were taken her lashes have grown even more(hard to believe, right?)! She continues to use Latisse to maintain these amazing results.
The only downside to this amazing and life changing product is that once you stop using use Latisse, your lashes will eventually return to their original length and density (whomp whomp). If you're like me, and want to avoid turning into a lashless pumpkin at midnight (I mean at the end of your Latisse bottle), don't stop using it. I have managed to maintain long, thick lashes since July 2018 by purchasing Latisse bottles back to back and rarely missing an application - I wasn't lying when I said I am ADDICTED.
