Just in time for Halloween, we want to tell you all about the Vampire Facial that everyone is eager to try.
This treatment is not nearly as gruesome as Kim K claims it to be and it produces great results. The Vampire Facial is actually Micro-Needling with PRP which stands for Platelet Rich Plasma that is found in our blood. In order to use this “ liquid gold” we need to first extract your blood and spin it so we can separate the plasma from the red blood cells. Once we have extracted the plasma we use it as a “serum” while using the Eclipse Micropen that has 12 needles that penetrate 1 millimetre into the skin. These needles cause a micro-injury to the skin tissue (similar to heavy duty micro dermabrasion) and they help to stimulate collagen and elastin resulting in a more revitalized, hydrated, glowing appearance.
Our body produces platelets which are used to heal wounds and prevent bleeding and they are rich in Growth Factors, when used in combination with micro-needling it allows the micro-injuries to heal quickly and leave skin looking radiant. The PRP helps to reduce the appearance of acne scarring and does absolute wonders for pigmentation especially for patients who suffer from Melasma- a common skin issue where patients suffer from pigmented patches on their face or body.
This treatment does have some downtime, you may be red for the first day and possibly the following day. There is a slight chance of dryness and some flaking for the next couple of days. All patients heal differently. This treatment is not recommended for patients who currently have active acne, patients who are pregnant or breast feeding and who have a history of keloid scarring or medical conditions that can compromise healing. As with any deep exfoliating treatments, it is imperative that you take good care of your skin, think of it as a new born baby, you want to keep it clean, safe and hydrated.
Post care includes : NO touching your skin for the next 4 hours, change your pillow case when you get home, wipe down your phone with alcohol, NO swimming, saunas or excessive sweating for 72 hours, NO exfoliating or active ingredients for a week after treatment and absolutely NO PICKING of dry skin or surface pigmentation this can cause complications with healing and may result in permanent pigmentation or scarring. Once all the dryness & sloughing off of skin cells is complete you are left with a smoother, radiant and even skin tone. This treatment is great on its own however we recommend it in a series of 3-6 treatments to achieve the best results.
