But what happens when the supporting area around the lips starts to age? We’re talking perioral wrinkles, known as bar codes or smoker’s lines. Whether or not our patients have smoked, these wrinkles and creases contribute to feeling unattractive and even unhealthy. Patient’s continually voice their frustration of having their favourite lipstick bleed into these creases.
There is a combination of factors that contribute to the formation of the barcodes. Genetics + aging factors like sun exposure, alcohol use and smoking = fine lines and creases around the mouth.

LASER LASER LASER - can’t stress this enough. Depending on the severity of the wrinkles, treatment options will include our fractionated hybrid laser -HALO- for the fine lines. For the really deep creases a great option is our Contour TRL deep resurfacing laser. Down time for HALO is 5 days and for Contour TRL is 10 days. Think of HALO like aerating and Contour TRL like mowing the lawn. Both are great tools to have and sometimes patients will benefit from both done at different times.
