Microneedling works by taking very short, fine needles and puncturing the skin to produce micro-wounds that will in turn activate your body's wound healing function.
As shown below in the diagram, the wound healing process goes through 4 phases, where platelets rich in growth factors are released and there by stimulating neocollagenesis and the proliferation of healthy new skin cells to the surface. The result, brighter, firmer, smoother skin.
At Skin Worthy we have 2 Microneedling devices, the Eclipse Micropen Elite and the V2 Beauty Booster gun. The main difference between the two devices is that the Micropen has 12 superfine needles whereas the V2 gun has 9 hollow point needles which enable it to deliver products through the needles into the skin at an exact depth of penetration. A product that sits at the top of your skin does little to nothing which is why scientists are always trying to think up new ways of getting products to penetrate deep enough through the skin and into the dermal layer where skincare ingredients can actually make a change to your skin.
Both treatments are accompanied with products designed to penetrate the skin, the Micropen is treated with Hyaluronic Acid serum for intense hydration while the V2 gun is treated with Teosyal's Redensity [1] cocktail mixture of HA, Glutathione and a host of other amino acids, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals designed to plump, brighten and firm the skin.
To kick things up a notch and further stimulate collagen production and a healthier/stronger ECM (extracellular matrix), PRP can be added on to either treatments. PRP is platelet rich plasma that is derived from your body's own blood and is loaded with growth factors that signal and stimulate the production of collagen which we know is largely responsible for the integrity of skin firmness and thickness.
