This is a common question a lot of patients inquire about and aren’t entirely sure which of the two is best suited for their skin concerns or what these treatment benefits are. Both the V2 Beauty Booster and micro-needling fall under the category of collagen induction therapy (CIT), these are non-invasive treatments that involve the repeated puncturing of the skin using very tiny, sterile needles. These controlled micro-injuries induce the production of collagen and elastin in the skin and are extremely beneficial for a variety of skin concerns.
The V2 Beauty Booster
Let's first start with the V2 Beauty Booster treatment. This procedure consists of 9 needles at a depth of 1mm that injects the Teoxane Redensity 1 product into the skin in the form of a gun. Teosyal Redensity I is a mix of non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid, amino acids, Vitamin B6 and antioxidants. One molecule of Hyaluronic acid holds 1000 times its weight in water therefore, this treatment is very hydrating for the skin. In addition to hydration, it activates fibroblasts within the dermis making them lay down new collagen and elastin. This produces thicker, tighter, more elastic skin on the face, lower eyelid, forehead, neck, décolletage and hands.
This treatment also helps to minimize the appearance of dull, crepey skin and gives your face a fabulous dewy glow. After one treatment using the V2 Beauty Booster you will start to see the skin plumping and filling, improved skin hydration and fewer fine lines and wrinkles. This is a versatile treatment that can be used to achieve tighter, firmer skin on the face, lower eyelid, forehead, hands, décolletage and neck.
As opposed to targeting and filling specific areas affected by volume loss the objective of the V2 Beauty Booster treatment is to completely blanket the face with hydrating Hyaluronic Acid (HA) creating tighter, firmer, glowing skin for our patients. To do this approximately 3 ml of Redensity I is delivered through 100 microinjections. Ideal results will be achieved through 3 treatments with three to four weeks between each treatment. Once a full treatment protocol of 3 treatments have been completed a total of 9ml of Redensity I will have been delivered into the skin.

Micro-needling
This treatment uses 12 needles in the form of a pen that can penetrate the skin from a depth of 0.5 to 2.0 mm depending on patient's skin concerns or personal skin goals. This treatment needs a lubricant of sorts in order to help the micro-pen slide easily along the skin, that is why we perform this treatment with either a Hyaluronic Acid Serum or we can draw your blood and use the Platelet Rich Plasma which is rich in your own natural growth factors. Growth factors amplify skin cell growth and when applied to the skin's surface, growth factors are one of the most regarded active ingredients for complete skin rejuvenation, they also aid in the healing process and can be applied after treatments such as the HALO. The benefits of growth factors are endless as they prompt the production of collagen and elastin within the skin.
Micro-needling is a great treatment for patients who suffer from common skin concerns such as melasma or acne scarring. It helps to reduce the appearance of sun damage hyperpigmentation. Micro-needling is also known to reduce fine lines and wrinkles because the controlled micro- injuries signal for the skin to produce collagen and elastin. For patients who have deeper acne scarring such as ice pick acne scars (deep/narrow) and boxcar acne scars (wide, can have sloping or sharp edges), we can adjust the depth to 2.0 mm to minimize the appearance of the scars and regenerate the scar tissue.

What to Expect:
Micro-needling takes a little longer than a V2 Beauty Booster treatment as we perform 3 passes over one treatment are. Horizontal, vertical and circular motions are done using the Eclipse Micropen to ensure the highest quality treatment is performed. The V2 has 9 needles that simultaneously inject Redensity 1, this allows for the product to be deposited at a controlled depth with the utmost accuracy. Both treatments are performed after applying a numbing cream the the treatment areas to eliminate discomfort. Downtime for the V2 Beauty booster is about 1-3 days depending on the patient, whereas downtime for micro-needling can be anywhere from 1-4 days also depending on the patient. With both of these treatments it is suggested to start out with a package of 3 treatments in order to start noticing some improvement in your skin and continue with 1 treatment every 6 months for maintenance. When it comes to collagen induction therapy it is important to keep in mind that collagen remodelling takes approximately 2-3 months. That being said, you will see slight improvements after 1 treatment but maximum results will occur at the 2-3 month mark and onwards if subsequent treatments were performed as suggested.
